• The blade is 3mm thick and is made from T10 water hardened carbon tool steel and hardened to RC63
• Water hardening steels are more difficult to heat treat than either oil or air hardening steels, but they take a finer edge 
• With the 50º blade installed in your Luban #62 Low Angle Jack Plane, you are getting much closer to a scraping action; using slow strokes and a very fine set, highly figured timber, burrs and patches of reversing grain will all give up their hidden beauty without any nonsense
